Food Service Technician

We are working with a not for profit organization in Brooklyn who is seeking a Food Service Technician on a temporary basis. The Food Service Technician supports daily food service operations in a senior center, ensuring meals are prepared, handled, and served safely while meeting the nutritional needs of older adults. This role focuses on food safety, sanitation, meal preparation, and assisting with dietary requirements in a supportive and respectful environment.  Food Handlers Certificate is required. 

Hours are Monday-Friday 8a-4p.

Responsibilities:

• Serves Congregate and/or Grab-and-Go meals to program participants
• Moves, unpacks and stores food and supplies. Receives and refrigerates
  all food items as soon as delivered.
• Maintains order and cleanliness of food storage.
• Manages food inventory.
• In the absence of maintenance staff, may be responsible for cleaning the
  kitchen, dining room and/or bathrooms.
• May be required to use knives and other kitchen utensils
• May assist in directing activities of volunteers.
• Performs other related tasks as requested or assigned.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
• Food Handler's Certificate required
• Ability to lift heavy objects, climb stairs and stand for long hours.
• Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and written.
